CARTAGENA HAS MORE STARS SINCE LAST NIGHT

With the arrival of the first lot of world skating stars this evening, starts the regressive account to begin the great sporting event of the year in Bolivar: the Pre-world Competition which gives rein to the Department’s 150th birthday.

 

From 8:00 p.m., American skaters Joseph Mantya, his team mate Michael Cheeks and Heather Richardson will arrive at “Rafael Nuñez” airport. By far, they have shown their pleasure to compete in Colombia, considered a world power in this sport.

 

The rest of international personalities will arrive tomorrow as well as the national figures staying in Bogotá, to heat up the atmosphere of the competition on Wednesday. The races are to start off on Thursday, February 8, from 8:00 a.m. with 300 m.

 

The Country Skater Rink looks neat and ready to receive more than 400 athletes scheduled to take part in the National Interclub Valid, ruled by Colombian Federation of Roller Sports, as well as the Pre-world Cup held from February 8 to 11.

 

The route races will be held at the “Jaime Morón” stadium, which has a great asphalted 400 m. rink.

 

The marathon will be the great event closing the Cartagena -Bolivar -150 - year Pre-world competition, which is also the opening stage of successful Circuit of Americas organized by the Pan-American Confederation of Roller Sports.

 

The competition will be carried out on an attractive 7- km. urban circuit around San Felipe Castle.

 

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the official launching will be done at 5:00 p.m. in the yellow room of the Governor’s Palace, with the presence of Governor Libardo Simancas, and after that, the little technical congress will be held.
